【アテネ/ギリシャ 1日 AFP】アテネ（Athens）で31日、米国のポール・ゲティ美術館（J. Paul Getty Museum）から10年ぶりに返還された紀元前500年の美術品2点が展示された。1911年にタソス島（Thasos island）のLimenasにあるアクロポリスで発掘され、10年間に及ぶ論争の末にようやく返還されたもの。ギリシャ政府は、海外の美術館や収集家らが所蔵するほかの美術品についても、公式に返還請求を行うと発表した。写真は、神殿で女神に謁見する様子を模した石のレリーフ。(c)AFP/Aris Messinis
美術品や考古学上の遺品は、どこにあるべきなのか？
■ジレンマ
返還されて、当然って思う人もいっぱいいるのかな？
デモサ、美術品って「管理」しなきゃならない。
温度だの、湿度など、それに、セキュリティも。
もちろん、それらに関する研究だとかもまとめていかないといけない。
それって、お金がかかることだ。
今のギリシャに、そんな余力あるのかな？
これは、ギリシャの遺品を沢山もってるアメリカ、イギリス、フランス側の
詭弁なのかもしれないけど
やっぱり、きちんと管理できる場所にあるほうが・・・いいような気がします・・・
■現場を守る
そりゃ、アクロポリスから剥ぎ取ってもって帰るようなことは
もうやっちゃマズいって分かってますよね。
一応、今の世間の温厚な人々の考え方としては
基本、現場を保存する。
そのままだと、風化して壊れる場合は、最低限補強する。
どうにもならない場合は、別の場所で保管。
みたいな、ルールっていうのかな。
でも、それも難しいよね。
昔の人が住んでたところって、今の人にとってもすみやすい場所だったりするかもしれない。
文化を守る、って、わりとね、平和で豊かじゃないとできない。
余力がないと、出来ないこと。
美術を趣味にするのが、金持ちの暇つぶしの道楽っぽいのと
同じ図式ですよ。
