イラクはどこへ向かうのか？

フセインが立派な指導者とも思いません。
ですが、イラク人がほかの国の人々と比べて問題がある人たちなのか？
答えは否。
■プライドと政治の思惑と
イラク人と何十年も付き合いがある人たちは、口々に言います。
イラク人は、約束を守り、非常にいい意味でプライドが高いため
気高い行動をとる。
そういった気風が、今のような屈辱的な状況では裏目に出てしまうのでは？と。
そう、イラン人やパレスチナ人たちなら、もう少し、えー加減さ、みたいなのがあって
ここまでにはならなかったのかも。
モチロン、旧イギリス植民地は、行政組織そのものが、ガチガチなところがあって
遊びがないぶん、緊張の糸が切れたときの崩れ方が激しいとも。
何かの文書をコピーするときは、必ず２部づつとり
一部は「何をコピーしたのか」という記録用に保存されていた
というハナシも聞いた。
旧フランス植民地は、もっと抜け穴が多く、表向きの数字には表れない
さまざまな物資が「バザールの商人」たちによって動いていることも事実。
でも、イラク商人、なんて聞いたことがない。
イラクは、そういう遊びの抜け穴がないほど、実直で生真面目で、気高いところがある。
■人類最古の文明を築いた人々
なんだかんだいって、最古の文明を支えた人たち。
もちろん、フセインのようなリーダーはそういう過去を「利用」する。
過去の栄光を、いわゆる七光り的に使うわけ。
偉大なネブカドネザル２世に自分をなぞらえたポスター。
バビロンの観光地化、などなど。
どうしても私には、古代バビロニアの歴史や文学を見ていて
この地に生きた人が、ファナティックで狂信的で話が通じない人には思えません。
本当に人間のココロの機微に通じた
人類普遍の哲学をもった
寛容な文明を作り上げ繁栄させてきた人々なんです。
■利用される「ココロのよりどころ」
つくづく、宗教の対立・・・というか、石油がらみの利害の対立でしょうけど本当は・・・
政治や経済の思惑を通すために、宗教的信念が利用されるとき
折り合いがつかない醜い争いを生んで、利用した人にも跳ね返ってくるような
そういう構造が生まれているんでしょうね。
歴史や宗教を道具のように利用して、政治的思惑を押し通すのは
一見お手軽ですが、天に向かって唾を吐くような行為なのだと
痛感させられる、そんなイラク情勢です。
イスラム教徒の中の若い人たちが、そういう目的のために煽動され
利用されることがないように支援していくことも（簡単に言えば、自爆テロなどを信仰の方法だと教え込まれたりしないように、伝えていくこと）も、日本のような国に求められる役割でしょう。
