聖母マリアの処女受胎

アントネッロ・ダ・メッシーナという画家は、15世紀イタリアの中でもヴェネツィア派に属する画家。
■アントネッロ
彼の作品でもっとも有名なのが、体中を矢に貫かれた『聖セバスチャン』の絵かもしれませんね。ヴァザーリによると、彼は『油絵の秘密』をイタリアに持ち込んだ人、だそうです。
それはどうだか分かりませんが、ヤン・ファン・アイク（油絵を完成させたといわれます）などのフランドル派の画家の技法をイタリアで確立した人といえます。でも、この作品は、保存状態があまりよくないようですね。やはり、油絵が発達過程だったことがうかがえます。
■ルネサンス・ヴェネツィア美術
水の都ヴェネツィア、この地域の絵の特徴は、ずばり『光と色』。色のついていない、白黒の素描一つとっても、この地域の画家たちは、いかにして『水に反射してゆらめく陽光』を美しく表現するかに労力を注いだようです。
そのためには、線よりも、むしろ形や色を中心に表現するため、線を重視するフィレンツェ派などと比べると、陰影でシェイプを取るのが特徴的です。
そして、当時の絵の特徴である、極端なまでの遠近法を使った遠景の表現。遠近法（パースペクティブ）はルネサンスの発明であり、その技術を使いこなすことは、今で言うと、パソコンのソフトを駆使して絵を描くような最先端感に近いかもしれません。
そんなに描き込まなくても・・・と今なら思ってしまうほど、背景がいやに細かいです。どこまでもどこまでも、光が燦々と降り注いで明るいのが分かりますね。
■Annunciation
受胎告知、というシーンは英語ではannunciationといいます。キリスト教の教義発展の歴史の中でも、初期の頃はあまりうるさく語られなかったのが、マリアの処女性について。
いえ、もっと言うと、マリア信仰そのものが、結構後からつけられたものなんですね。というのも、マリアは『神であるキリスト』が人間の世界で『受肉』、肉体を持って登場した原因というか根本的な根拠になる存在ですから。
それというのも、キリスト＝神なのか？！という宗教論争がYESという結論に至って、特に大事になったわけです。
SEXなしで子供ができる、という話を作ること自体、逆にいやらしいというか、オッサン臭いと思うのは、私だけなのでしょうか？
