クリーヴランド美術館所有のコレクションが世界美術館で展示される - 中国
【北京/中国 30日 AFP】世界美術館（World Art Museum）で26日から8月27日までアメリカのクリーヴランド美術館（Cleveland Museum of Art、CMA）が所有する19世紀後半から20世紀前半のヨーロッパの絵画や彫刻100点余りの展示会、「From Monet to Picasso: Masterworks from the Cleveland Museum of Art」が開催される。

ロダンのこの作品は、あまりにあまりに、あまりに、あまりに有名で、取り立てて、何も言うことなんてなさそうです。
■地獄の門
この作品、「地獄の門」という大作の一部なんですね。地獄の門の、ちょうど上の方の真ん中に位置しています。
こんなポーズで考えている人は、実際にはあまりいませんし、試してみても、考え事には向かないポーズとして知られています。でも、考えている感、は普通に考えている姿（大抵は、なんてことない格好で考えているものです）よりも出ているのではないでしょうか？
同じようにロダンには「歩く人」という作品がありますが、これもまた、普通に歩いていたら絶対にそんなポーズにはなりえない、というポーズです。でも、「歩いてる感」 は、まともに歩いているポーズよりも、出ているのです。
■ブロンズという素材
美術史の勉強をし始めた、ごくごく最初の頃の、私の素朴な疑問が・・・
「先生、このブロンズ、ロダンが実際に触ってるんですかね？」でした。
ブロンズという作品は、まず粘土とかで元々の作品を作って、ロスト・イン・ワックスという、古代ギリシャの天才たちが思いついた技法で、量産可能になるのです。一定の作品数を作ったら、鋳型は壊すみたいです。
で、この「考える人」 に関しては、どうなんでしょう？ロダンはどこまで関わっているんですか？と聞いてみたわけ。まだ10代だったから、そういう質問も平気でできました。
先生の答えは・・・・「タブン、それは職人に任せてて、今、東京の美術館においてある作品には、ロダンは、ちらっと触ったりしたかもしれない程度だと思う」 ということでした！
