大食いコンテストと飢餓 大食漢と飢える子供
【ニューデリー/インド 8日 AFP】ニューデリー（New Delhi）で8日、第18回マンゴー・フェスティバル（Annual Mango Festival）が開かれた。2日間にわたるこの祭りでは、インドで見ることのできる約500種類のマンゴーが展示され、調理の実演や栽培プログラムも披露される。世界のマンゴーの50％近くを生産するインドでは毎年、9000万ドル相当にあたる5万トンのマンゴーを、世界80か国に輸出している。写真は、フェスティバルでコンテストに参加する少女。(c)AFP/MANAN VATSYAYANA

どうしても、「インドネタ」には敏感に反応してしまう。
過去にも「占いロボット」や「田舎オリンピック」等、わたしの壺をいつも刺激する。
そして今回のマンゴーフェスタ。
写真はコンテストに参加する女性と言うことだが、どう見ても
「早食い」か「大食い」のどちらかだと思う。
神の国のわりには競い合う競技が結構多い国。インド。
そしてどうしても、「食い物ネタ」を見ると以前も出した、ある人物を思い浮かべてしまう。ファブロフの犬っていうのか、情景反射というか、食い物ネタのオーバーネタがくるとマスト。イメージしてしまう女が私にわたしにはいる・・・。

そう無駄に食う女 由○である。
由○は、毎日、毎日無駄に食う。
一緒にいると、食べ物の話しかしない。パク。
「あそこの○○がうまい！！」やら、「○○を腹一杯食べてみたい。」
「あそこの牛丼はタマネギが多すぎて肝心の肉が少なすぎる」「足らない」「少ない」とにかく量、質、他のモノには殊更おおざっぱなくせに、こと「食」の話になると異常に細かい。異常にどん欲。
星の数ほどある「好物メニュー」の中でも特に好きなのは基本的にケンタッキー。
大好物骨付き油ぎっとんとんのチキンを片手に布団に潜り込んでトレンディドラマを頬杖付ながら食べるのが特に好きらしい。
「寝タッキー」とでも呼ぶのか・・。
風邪引くと体力増強にまたまた食べるらしい。あまりにも食べ物話が多ので、聞いてるこっちは、必ず気持ち悪くなる。
先日も、出先で「お腹空いた〜」とかいうんで、自分のポケットをあさると、先週、森林公園で拾った木の実が出てきた。
湿った地面に落ちていたドングリかなんだかもわからない、正体不明の木の実だ。
思い切って「食べる？」と渡してみた。
「あ、○○煎餅に入ってるやつでしょ〜」と至って得意気。
面倒くさいので「あ ああ、そうそう」と答えてみる
「わかるもんね〜〜〜」
うれしそうに
由○はポケットに入れ、電車を降りた。
彼女がそれを食べたかは知らない。
由○
それは、大食いの呪文
彼女は決して食べ物を無駄にはしない。
小食の私にとって、まさに神の領域である。
いつしか、このインドの檜舞台に上がる日も近いことだろう。
暴飲暴食を続ける由○と
インドマンゴーフェスタに思う。
好きなモノを好きなだけ食べられ、寝ながらテレビ観てケンタッキーを頬張れる豊かな時代。
一方で世界には今も満足に食をとれずに息絶える飢餓に苦しむ子供達がいる。
深刻な環境問題を前に人類が一丸とならねばならない「今」
我が地球国の経済格差ならぬ食欲格差をどう理解すればいいのだろう？
「運」と言ってしまえばそれまでだが・・・

そして飢餓を横目に、いつまで大食いコンテストは行われていくのだろう。
