刑事コロンボに思ふ
＜第33回ヴィジョン・アワード＞ピーター・フォーク出席 - 米国

ピーター・フォークの写真をみて、驚いた。年をとったなぁ・・・と。
この人、皆さんご存知の通り、言わずと知れたコロンボさん。刑事コロンボを見て育った私は、このピーターフォークに親しみを感じている。しかし、親しみを感じたのは、刑事コロンボの面白さがあったのも確かだが、何よりも・・・《声》。

《名吹替え・・・》
『刑事コロンボ』がテレビの水曜ロードショーで放送されるときのあの声。
「うちのカミさんがね・・・。」
「ごめんなさい、もう一ついいですか？」
あの声と、キャラクターが見事に融合し、私の心に刻まれた。吹替えの声があまりにも印象的だったせいで、大人になり、海外で刑事コロンボを見た時は、その違いに戸惑ったものである。「声が・・・コロンボじゃない・・・」と（笑）
愛着のある吹き替はたくさんある。クリント･イーストウッドの声であったり、ジャッキー･チェンの声。ファミリータイズという米ＴＶドラマを見ていた方は分かるかもしれないが、マイケル・Ｊ・フォックスの声。そして、刑事コジャック事、テリー・サバラスの声や、ナイトライダーのマイケル事、デビッド･八ッセルホフとロボットキッとの声・・・。
昔の事を書き始めると止まらないが、なんとも思い出に残る名吹替えはたくさんある。昔といっても、８０年代までの話だが、最近はそんな名吹替えに当たる事は、ないに等しい。その理由は、声優の仕事を俳優やタレントが奪っている点にあるのではないだろうか？
《禁じ手・・・》
作品を《売る》為に、有名タレントや俳優を声に起用。『シュレック』など、ジム･キャリーやエディー・マーフィーにキャメロン・ディアス。日本版でもお笑いの芸人が吹き替えを担当していたりする。最近そんな作品がやたらと目に付く。
作品を《売る》という事に対して、執着するのはいい。しかし、だからといって、安易な方法で、売れば売るほど、自虐行為につながりかねない。それは、声優の職を奪い、声優の文化が失われていく事。私の様に《声》とキャラクターの融合に愛着を感じ、作品の面白さを堪能した人は数多い。しかし、《顔》を連想させる俳優やタレントが、吹替えをやってしまっては、声優の職は減り、声優は消えていく。
《顔》を売りにする俳優やタレントは、実写の場で精進すべきである。確かに《顔》が売りの俳優やタレントを使えば《売り》に繫がるかも知れないが、それは、文化を壊す事であり、禁じ手であるようにも思える。
一昔前には、作品の面白さと、それに似合った《声》で、たくさんの名作が生まれた。別の方向で売りを考える事は、可能なはずである。
