辻本清美が都知事選に立候補したら、『週刊新潮』あたりが底意地悪く誹謗中傷するだろうが、仮に吉永小百合が立候補したならば、この週刊誌が誹謗中傷するのは難しいだろう。チェチェンの少年少女民族舞踊団をテーマにしたドキュメンタリー映画『踊れ！グローズヌイ』を観て、そんなことを考えた。
■少年少女民族舞踊団「ダイモーク」（わが祖国）
西に傾いた金色の太陽光が差し込む草原に、民族衣装に身を包んだ少年たちが現れるところから映画は始まる。
ロシア軍占領下のチェチェン共和国の首都グローズヌイ。民族舞踊の名手ラムザン・アフマードフは、戦争で散り散りになった子どもたちを集め、児童民族舞踊団『ダイモーク』（わが祖国）を結成した。
彼らは、夏休み中のヨーロッパ公演旅行にバスで出発する。その旅の終わりまでを追ったロードムービーである。
車中の子どもたちの情景、舞台稽古、各地の公演そのものを、カメラは淡々と映していく。
ときおり、故郷のチェチェンにカメラは移り、瓦礫の中での練習風景や家庭生活が挿入される。「覚えているけど戦争のことは話したくない」という少年や、８年前に死んだ父のことを語る少女の姿の断片が公演旅行の映像の合間に流れて行く。
■少年少女たちが引き受ける責任
引率のラムザンが子どもたちに言う。
「チェチェン人はテロリストと思われている。普通の人間だと世界に知らせるのが、私たちに課せられた責務なのだ。そのためには、最高の芸術を披露しなければならない」
少年少女たちは、その責任を果たしている。チェチェンの民族舞踊は、激しく情念的だ。それでいて自己抑制的。自己抑制（ニーソ）は、チェチェンの民族哲学ウェズデンゲルの根幹をなす理念でもある。
激しい舞踊だが、爆発しそうなエネルギーを寸前で抑えるようなところがある。
華やかな舞台と音楽、それとは対照的な戦争で荒廃したチェチェンの風景、子どもたちのクローズアップが織り成す映像を見ていると、少数民族の苦難とその息遣いが伝わってくるのだ。
全編を通してスクリーンから発せられるやわらかな光線が、苦難に向かって生きようとする民族の未来を象徴しているようにもとれる。
■攻撃されにくい表現
ロシアのチェチェン侵略に対する直接的な告発はなく、ストレートな戦争被害の様子もほとんど描かれていない。それでいて、民族的苦難と哀歓、そして未来へむけて生きる生命力までをも描ききっている。
チェチェン人を殲滅しようとしているプーチン大統領をはじめ、ロシアの軍国主義者たちは、この映画を非難できないし、民族舞踊団の指導者ラムザンや少年少女たちを悪く言うことはできない。
そのことを思ったとき、冒頭に書いた辻本清美と吉永小百合の比較が頭をよぎったのだ。この映画は、週刊新潮的なるものに攻撃されにくい「吉永小百合的」な映画だと思った。ちなみに、私は辻本・吉永の二人とも支持する。
いかにして少数派が多数派に自分たちの心を伝えるか。このことを一度でも考えたことのある人には、必見の映画である。
