もう一つのワールドカップ
知的障害者のサッカー選手権が開催されます！
しばらくブログをお休みしている間（すみません！）に、春から夏へと季節は変わり、世の中はワールドカップ一色。トリノオリンピックもテレビで見ることができなかったのですが、結局、ワールドカップも、このまま映像を見ずに終わりそうです。。。日本代表の試合をラジオで聞いても、ちょっとむなしかった。
ワールドカップ開催前の5月、日本ハンディキャップサッカー連盟に中村俊輔選手が寄付をしたことが多少話題になりましたが、第4回知的障害者サッカー世界選手権（4th INAS-FID World Football Championships in Germany）が、8月26日から9月17日までドイツで開催されます。この知的障害者のワールドカップ、実は、2002年日韓ワールドカップの時には日本で開催されたのですが、一般的にはほとんど知られていないはず。
私の記憶では、唯一マスコミでしっかり取り上げていたのは、「ニュース23」だけだったと思います。この日本大会から、ワールドカップ主催国で開催されるようになり、「もう一つのワールドカップ」と呼ばれているのですが、前回優勝したイングランド、ホスト国のドイツなどヨーロッパをはじめ、アフリカ、アメリカ、そしてアジアからは韓国と日本など、総勢16カ国が出場し世界一を競いあいます。
中村俊輔選手が寄付をした日本ハンディキャップサッカー連盟は、知的障害のある人たちのサッカー競技連盟で、国内大会を開催したり、ドイツ大会に出場する日本代表を派遣する組織です。選手たちは、お勤めをしている人、養護学校の生徒などさまざまですが、昨年12月から日本代表選手としての活動が始まり、合宿を行い、ドイツ大会に向け練習を重ねているそうです。日本は、予選リーグでは、ドイツ（前回大会４位）、北アイルランド（前回大会未出場）、ロシア（前回大会３位）と同じ組で戦うことになっていますが、前回大会では10位だった日本チーム、FIFAワールドカップでの日本代表が成しえなかった予選リーグ突破を目標に、ぜひともがんばってほしいです。
そして、もっと、もっと、彼らががんばっている姿を報道してほしい。2002年日本大会では、その試合を見たごくわずかな人たちの間だけではありますが、彼らの真摯でひたむきな戦いぶりは、静かな感動を呼んだそうです。
日本代表として出場する彼らは、おそらく軽度の知的障害者の人たちだと思いますが、仕事も持ち、日々の社会生活を営みながらサッカーに取り組んでいる。オリンピックのマイナー競技の選手、パラリンピックの選手もそうですが、仕事をしながら世界レベルの大会に出場するための練習を続けること、そして大会に出場することは、周囲の理解はもちろん、資金的にも大変ですし、多くの人たちの支援を必要としているはず。しかし、みんなの声援や、サポートが必要でも、彼らの存在を知らなければ、誰も何もできません。
この夏、もう一つのワールドカップの熱い戦いにも、ぜひ声援を！
