＜2006ミス・ユニバース＞プエルトリコ代表が王冠に輝く - 米国
【カリフォルニア/米国 24日 AFP】世界一の美の称号をかけて競われる2006ミス・ユニバース（2006 Miss Universe）の世界大会が23日、シュライン・オーディトリアム（Shrine Auditorium）にて行われ、ミス・プエルトリコのスレイカ・リベラさん（Zuleyka Rivera）が見事、2006ミス・ユニバースに選ばれ、ミス・ユニバース・クラウン（Miss Universe Crown）を贈呈された。今回は86か国の代表が55代目の栄冠を目指して美を競っていた。(c)AFP/Getty Images Stephen Shugerman
先頃決定した、ミスユニバースの最終審査に残った五名の写真です。
向かうところ敵無しといった凄みが感じられます。
一体何を食べたらこういうふうに美しくなるのだろう。
きっとこういう、桁違いの美しさを天から授かった方々は、我々よりも何倍も楽しい人生を送るのでしょう。彼女達の眼になって世間を見渡した時、そこにはどういう世間が見えるのだろう。世を手中に治めたような、言い知れぬエクスタシーがあるのではないでしょうか。
彼女達のこれからの人生の拡がりを、私なりに想像してみたくなりました。きっとその先には大変な幸福が待ち受けているに違いありません、・・・と思っていろいろ思い巡らせてみたのですが、あれ・・・？思いのほかスムーズに拡がって行かないのです。
二つの事柄が頭に浮かんできてしまいました。
一つは、「Ｗの悲劇」という映画の中で三田佳子さん演じる大女優が語っていた台詞、あともう一つは、田中角栄氏の元秘書の佐藤昭子さんという方が書いた「私の田中角栄日記」という本に書かれていたある言葉です。そのどちらもが、栄光を手にした人達の影の部分を語っています。
今モンゴルで反町君主演の映画を撮っている澤井信一郎監督の作品に「Ｗの悲劇」というのがあります。その中で、三田佳子さん演じる大女優がスキャンダルに巻き込まれるのですがその時に、薬師丸ひろ子さん扮する駆け出しの大部屋女優に向かって、「大女優としての名声を手に入れた私の周りには、あわよくばその足を引き摺り下ろそうとする人達がうじゃうじゃ居る」といったような台詞を投げかけます。
また、「私の田中角栄日記」によれば、著者の佐藤昭子さんは、角さんが総裁選に勝利した瞬間に止めどなく涙が溢れてきて、それをまわりの若手代議士の方々は勝利の感激の涙だと思ったそうですが、当人は全く逆で、この内閣は短命で終わると直感したが為の涙であったそうです。
こんなことを考えていると、まだいろいろと浮かんできます。文学にせよ映画にせよ、世に栄光の影を悲劇として描いた作品の何と多いことか。
そういえば先日たまたま久しぶりにビデオで黒澤明の「乱」を見ました。これも元ネタはシェイクスピア悲劇の「リア王」です。
栄光の影・・・。思考がネガティブな方にばかり向かうのは、決して宜しいことではないですが、手に入れた栄光と折り合いをつけてその後の人生を上手にハンドリングしていくには、相当な知力を要しそうです。
ましてやその栄光が「女性の美しさ評」という、大衆という怪物にとって恐ろしいほど賞味期限が短いものなので、尚更のことでしょう。
老婆心ながら、いろいろ考えさせられます。
でもまあ、きっと皆それなりに幸福にやっていくのでしょう。
今回の日本代表の方は準ミスに輝いたそうですが、聞けば３ヶ国語を操る才女とか。ほんとうに素晴らしい強みだと思います。
準ミスという称号と折り合いをつけながら輝き続けるのは、困難なことでしょうが、そういう才女ならば、きっとうまくやっていかれることと思います。
是非頑張って頂きたいです。
