日本国内のエネルギー事情のお話ですが、ひと昔前までは、ストーブは灯油、照明器具は電気、風呂はガスというふうに、それぞれのエネルギーの持ち場が決まっていましたが、最近は、エネルギー事業の自由化のおかげで競争は熾烈化しつつあるし、原油は高くなったり、太陽光発電なんかも出てきて、電気、ガス、石油のうちのどれで行くのかを、消費者が選ぶ時代が本格的に到来しつつあります。
特に東京電力と東京ガスのCM合戦は熾烈を極めている感があります。これまでは、「Ｓｗｉｔｃｈ」の東京電力が一歩リードといった感じでしたが、ここに来て、東京ガスの、例の妻夫木くんと変な歴史上の人物が出て来るＣＭが、巻き返してきているように思います。
中でも最近の、『オノノイモコ』バージョンは最高です！
オノノイモコ・・・、小学校の社会の時間に初めてこの名前を聞いた時、先生が真面目な顔で授業しているのに、どうしてもこみ上げてくる笑いに堪え切れず、吹き出してしまって怒られた生徒は、きっとクラスに一人はいるんじゃないでしょうか。そしてもしクラスに小野君や小野さんという生徒がいたら、きっと一ヶ月ぐらいは、「イモコ」と呼ばれる羽目になったのではないかと思います。
どうしてこの「オノノイモコ」という名の響きが、小学生の心を捉えて離さないのか？それは、イモコのイモが、本当は『妹』なのですが、ついつい『芋』に思ってしまうからだと思います。しかも、この人、女性と思いきや、男性ときています。小学生にしてみたら、こんなにイジリたくなるような、教材上のキャラクターは、無いんじゃないでしょうか？
そしてこの人物を使った東京ガスのＣＭですが、私はこのＣＭを作った方のセンスをとても面白がっています。小野妹子役に酒井若菜さんを起用してくるとは！
それは、酒井若菜さんのチャームポイントとされているであろう丸いアゴのラインが、オノノイモコのイモから連想するまん丸い『芋』に、イメージが重なるからです。
あっと驚くようなキャスティングをしたことで大成功を納めた映画が数多くあります。
その中の一つに、ピアノ・レッスンのエイダを演じたホリー・ハンターが挙げられると思うのですが彼女は、この映画に起用される前までは、どちらかといえばコミカルな役柄の印象が強い女優さんだったのではないでしょうか。しかし彼女はこの作品で、「自閉症の女性が、真面目で生活力のある夫を捨てて、肉感的でワイルドな男性に走る」役を演じました。この役をホリー・ハンターにオファーした人物は、彼女のどの部分に光を当ててそう決めたのか、不思議に思うのですが、あの映画を見終わった後、なんてハマリ役なんだろうと、感心した方は多いと思います。
確かこの作品で、ホリー・ハンターは何らかの賞を受賞したと思うのですが、僕個人的には、オノノイモコ役への酒井若菜さんの起用は、これと同じくらい、お見事！と感心しております。
