航空事業はなぜ鳥のように羽ばたかない？それでは、儲かる事業とは？

大空へのあこがれ！
鳥のように空を飛ぶという願いは、有史以来人類が普遍的にもってきた願望でしょう。
起業の神様とも言える、リチャード・ブランソン率いるバージン・アトランティック航空、従業員本位の会社として有名なサウスウェスト航空、それにキャセイ・パシフィック等々、素晴らしい航空会社は多数あります。
それでも、私は航空会社に投資しようと思いません。
実際、連戦連勝を続けてきたウォーレン・バフェッット氏のきわめて少ない失敗のひとつが、航空会社への投資です。同氏は、その失敗以来航空会社への投資は行っていません。
また、１９９５年にジョージ・ソロス率いるAmerican Aviatonが投資した海南航空（上海B株900945）の株価は、上海B株市場自身の低迷もあって、２００１年から現在まで下げ続けています。
なぜ、航空会社への投資はうまくいかないのか？その理由を述べると、ずいぶん長くなってしまうのですが、感覚的に表現すると、「フレンチ・レストランの経営ではなかなか儲からない」のと同じと言えるかもしれません。
成功した経営者は、よくマイ・フレンチレストランをもちたがります。趣味とこだわりでやっているので、豪華な内装で厳選した食材を使用しているにもかかわらず、価格はかなり抑えられています。
また、シェフが自分自身で経営するレストランも、やはりこだわりが強くて儲かりませんし、ホテル内のフレンチレストランも、基本的には宿泊客へのサービスであり、かつホテルの「顔」でもあるので、簡単にグレードを下げることが出来ませんし、儲からないからと言ってやめることも出来ません。
結果、フレンチレストランの８割が赤字だと言われます。
航空会社の場合は、特に発展途上国では「国家の顔」であり、しかも人命が関わるための必要不可欠なコストは馬鹿になりません。
固定費が巨額なのに、アジアの主要都市への（ディスカウント）往復航空運地が、東京-大阪の新幹線往復料金よりも、しばしば安くくなっています。どう考えても、度を越えた過当競争市場です。
ちなみに、最近、ホンダが創業者本田宗一郎の見果てぬ夢であった、航空事業に参入するとの発表がありました。航空機の製造も、リスクの割にはそれほど儲かる商売ではありません。
ホンダファンの私としては非常に残念ですが、当面の間ホンダを投資の対象からはずさなければなりません・・・
さて、それでは儲かる投資対象とは何でしょうか？それは、ほとんどの場合、世間が注目していない、きわめて地味な業種の中にあります。
例えば、「学習塾」。少子高齢化が進む日本では、学習塾は衰退産業だと考えられていますし、実際に困難に直面している学習塾は多数あります。
しかし、「個別指導塾」と呼ばれる２～３人の生徒を対象にした塾は、急速に伸びており、かつ高い収益をあげています。（上場企業では、東京個別指導学院・明光ネットワーク・クリップなど）
これらの個別指導塾が伸びている背景には、学校が終わってからの子供の居場所、すなわち、託児所としてのニーズがあります。最近、小さな子供達に対する凶悪な犯罪が頻発しているため、親は学校が終わってから、子供が安全に過ごせる場所を探しています。
個別指導塾であれば、安全なだけでなく、勉強まで教えてくれるので、願ったりかなったりです。
これらの個別指導塾の多くが併営しているサッカー教室が盛況なのも、同じ理由です。昔であれば、少年野球チームの監督をやっていたような人が、仕事としてサッカースクールの先生になるわけです。
このような、隠れた成長ビジネスは、他にもたくさんありますので、機会を見ながらブログの中で紹介していきたいと思います。
