【ヴィーゴ/スペイン 27日 AFP】23日に終了した自転車レース、ツール・ド・フランス（2006 Tour de France）で自身初の総合優勝を果たしたフォナック・ヒアリング・システムズ（Phonak Hearing Systems）のフロイド・ランディス（Floyd Landis、米国）が、第17ステージ後に行われたドーピング検査で筋肉増強作用のあるテストステロンに陽性反応が出ていたことを、所属チームのフォナック・ヒアリング・システムズがウェブサイト上で発表した。

先ほどアメリカCNNのラリー・キング・ライブにランディスが生出演して、無罪を訴えていた。ランスも電話で登場して、ランディスを擁護した。
そこに登場した医師もテストステロンをレース中に処方しても即効性もなく、逆効果になるので意味がないと発言していた。ただアルコール摂取によってテストステロン数値が上がるという研究もされていると話していた。
「フランスの反米感情によるもの？」という質問についてはコメントはなし。今の中東情勢を考えると、軽い気持ちでそんな話はできっこない。
スポーツにナショナリズムを持ち込むのもいいが、こんなときにはどんなもんかと考えさせられる。もしサッカーワールドカップでアメリカが優勝するようになったら、もっとひどいことが起こるのか？
ただ、純粋な気持ちで競い合うスポーツを観たいし、これからもそんな気持ちを大切にスポーツに接していきたい。
ランディスに関してはパンターニのときのようにならないように願うだけだ。
