世界選手権2006 エリート男子ロード
＜06UCIロード世界選手権＞ベッティーニ 男子ロードレースで優勝を果たす - オーストリア

世界選手権が終わって、もう3日目。いまはマルセイユのフミのところに滞在しています。
世界選手権は激しい戦いが繰り広げられて、大本命のパオロ・ベッティーニが初の世界選手権タイトルを獲得した。やっとベッティーニが世界チャンピオンになった。この表彰台を見てもわかるけれど、誰しもが認めた勝利だった。3人ともに満面の笑みを浮かべている。自分の中ではこれが最も印象深いシーンだった。
さて、エリート男子ロードに初出場となったフミだが、ラスト2周まで問題なく走っていたのだが、ラスト1周に入る前にメイン集団から遅れてしまった。本人はいまでもリザルトを見ては「ちくしょー！」って悔しがっている。今年は足切りが厳しく、あそこまで走ったのに、ほぼ最終走者に近い順位となってしまった。リザルトだけみると、ちょっと悲しい順位だ。ただライブでご覧になった皆さんもわかった通り、将来に可能性をみせた走りだったのは確かだ。
しかし、もう終わったレース。なにを言ってもしょうがない。フミはこのあとチューリッヒ選手権、パリ〜ツール、ジロ・ディ・ロンバルディアとUCIプロツアーの終盤の3連戦に挑む。すでに次のレースに向けて、いまも練習に出かけている。
そして、お知らせ。ついにディスカバリーチャンネルのジャパンカップの出場が正式に決定した。ディスカバリーチャンネルがついに日本のレースを走る。フミにとっては日程がタイトで厳しいが、地元日本のファンにいい走りをみせたいと意気込んでいる。是非、宇都宮に足を運んで応援して下さい。

始さん、そしてフミ君、お疲れさまでした。
世界戦をライブで見た日本人全員が、フミ君、野寺さん、晋一さんは何処？とブラウン管その他の画面に釘付けになっていたのに間違いない。
その中、終盤の集団の中で落ち着いた表情をしているフミ君が映った時は、「これはゴールまでイイ感じで行きそう！」と思いました。
放送解説の栗村さんもゼッキョー！
結果としては「アレッ？どうしたの？」と、残念でしたが......。
それでも残り１周を迎える前までは集団にシッカリ残っていたのですから凄いさ。
残りの２周回の集団の速さは、とんでもない速さでしたからね。
画面であれだけ速く見えたって事は、ナマの目で見たらもっと凄かったでしょう。
今回足りなかった部分を補って、更に凄いフミ君になって欲しい。
終盤の３連戦とJAPAN CUPで頑張って下さい。
したっけ、終盤の３連戦ってプロツアーのレースだし、レースに出る事自体が凄い。
着実に地位を築いているよ。
