■にゃン子の目（２）
【バン/トルコ 20日 AFP】鳥インフルエンザ(bird-flu)に感染した鳥に触れた場合、ウイルスは人間にのみに感染し、猫への感染の脅威はないと考えられている。ところが、鳥インフルエンザ発生の中心地にいる獣医には、感染からの保護のという理由で、有名な猫、バン(Van)と接触する機会がない。バンは、白い毛に赤褐色のもよう、左右の目の色が異なるという特徴がある。写真は19日、バン東部にある「キャット・ハウス・センター」で撮影されたバン猫。(c)AFP/MUSTAFA OZER
野良猫だった「しろちゃん」
家族になれて良かったね。
しろちゃんは放し飼いで、家に帰ってくるのは、空腹時か
寝るときで、多くの時間を戸外で自由気ままに過ごして
いました。
ところが主人がマンションに引越してからというもの
座敷猫の境遇になりました。
マンションの中では犬や猫を放し飼いしないという
ところだったのでやむを得なくでした。
子猫の頃から座敷猫であれば苦痛ではないでしょうが
、野良や放し飼いの過去を引きづっている
成人猫はストレスが溜まります。
なのでしろちゃんに自由と自己責任を回復させるため、
野良に放してやろうか と主人は思いましたが
野良猫の実態を知っている主人はしろちゃんを
死に追いやりたくありません。
餓死・凍死・放置病死・事故死・などのリスクをなくし
、寿命を全とうさせるためには、現状では
座敷猫に成り切ってもらう以外に選択技が
ないのです。
バルコニーに出る窓にしろちゃん用の小さな出入り口を
頼んで造ってもらい、しろちゃんが
いつでも外に出られるようにしました。
バルコニーの柵から顔を出して景色を眺める
しろちゃん。
一軒家の時の眺めとは違って、
前には大きなショッピングセンター
だけどしろちゃんはバルコニーに遊びにきた
雀を見たり、屋根にとまっているカラスを見たり
時々飛んでくる蝉を捕まえて遊んだり。
しろちゃんの目で何かを感じ取っていたのかも
しれません。
主人は、夜のバルコニーに一緒に出て
夜景を眺めたり 遊んだり また戸外の縄張り巡回に
付き合ったりなどして
しろちゃんとのコミュニケーションをとることに
心がけました。
好奇心が強く、わがままで、自由気ままなしろちゃん。
主人はしろちゃんとの対話に心のやすらぎを
求めていたかもしれません。
そのしろちゃんが玄関のドアを開けた瞬間、
サッと戸外へ出てしまったのです。
野良猫だったしろちゃんはバルコニーの外を眺める
だけではもの足りなかったと主人は思いました。
しろちゃんは、帰ってこないかもしれない。
大きなマンションの階段をあちこち回ったら
この家にたどりつけないかもしれない。
どの家も同じ玄関。
ここが何階かもわからない。
主人は途方にくれました。
その晩は寝つけないまま 主人とその家族は
玄関のドアを少し開けて
しろちゃんの帰りを待ったのです。
しろちゃんは何処をさ迷っているのでしょう。
以前住んでいた家に戻ろうとしたのか
お月様のひかりを浴びながら
夜のお散歩を楽しんでいるのか
