【サンフランシスコ/米国 30日 AFP】太陽系外の惑星としては最も小さい惑星が発見された。国立核物理研究所であるローレンス・リバモア研究所（Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory）によると、この新惑星はOGLE-2005-BLG-290 Lbと呼ばれており、赤色矮星を周回している。写真は欧州南天天文台(ESO)による、赤色矮星と新惑星のイメージ画。この極寒の惑星は地球の5倍の大きさで、科学者の国際チームによって発見された、とアメリカの研究所は述べている。(c)AFP/ESO - EDITORIAL
夜も明け切らぬ頃 芳子は目を覚ました。
何時だかわからない
部屋はグローランプの朱色に染まっていて
ランプをじっと見ていたら
赤い点のように見えてきた
胸の中で何かがざわめき
いてもたってもいられなくなって
芳子は母親に
「おかあさん、お腹空いたよぉ」 と
声をかけていた
「まだ朝じゃないわよ。寝なさい。」
「お腹が空いたんだもん。ごはん食べたいよ。」
「朝まで待ってなさい。」
母親は寝てしまった
芳子は眠ろうと思って目を閉じた
だけどずっと 眠れなかった
お布団から這い出して ひとり 障子を開け
ソファの上に寝ころんだ
リビングは真っ暗
少しひんやりとしたソファが心地よくて
胸のざわめきがすこしづつ消えていくのが
わかった
隣りの部屋は障子越しに朱色の部屋
芳子は早く朝にならないかなぁと
暗闇の中のカーテンを見ていた
ごはんが炊けるにおいがした
母の声で目を覚ました
いつのまにか眠っていたようだ
「そんなところで寝ちゃって風邪ひくじゃない」
「ごはんってうるさいから 今日は早く炊いたの」
時計の針は６時をまわったところ
朝焼けの日差しが部屋に
差し込んで
芳子はホカホカの炊き立てごはんを
ほうばった
「なんで 変な時間にお腹空いたの？」と
母親が聞いてくる
「よく わかんないんだけど 起きたら眠れなく
なっちゃってお腹がすいたの」
「へんな子だねぇ....」と母親は言いながら
グローランプのスイッチを切った
芳子は幼稚園に行く前にいつも見るテレビがあった
そのテレビを見ていると おみそ汁のＣＭがあって
ほんわか白いゆげがたつ そのおみそ汁を
いつも飲んでみたいと思っていた
幼稚園の制服に着替えながら芳子は窓の外を眺めた
さっきまで晴れていたのに どんよりと黒い雲が
こっちにやってきた
雨が降る と思った瞬間
ポタポタと大粒の雫がベランダのコンクリートの上に
落ちた
「雨かぁ。」
母親が用意してくれた赤い傘と赤い長靴
幼稚園に行くまでの道のりを友達と手をつなぎながら
歩いていくと細い雨がサーサー降ってきて
雨の匂いを感じた
幼稚園に着くと芳子の苦手な鉄棒のテストが待っていた
「外は雨だから今日はお部屋の中でやりまーす」 と
先生の声
「なんだぁ」 と思いながら自分の順番が近づいてくる
出来るかなぁ 大丈夫かなぁ と思いながら
鉄棒を掴み ピョンと 飛び乗って一回転した
「芳子ちゃん、出来ました～ みんな拍手～」
パチパチパチ.......
芳子は何か風景が回った気がしたが まさか
前回りができたとは思っていなかった
自分のことを見ながらお友達がパチパチと拍手を
していたのでびっくりしたのと
風景が回ったことがこわかったことと
嬉しかったことが一度にやってきて
泣いてしまった
「どうして、芳子ちゃん泣くの？」
先生が頭をなでながら聞いてくる
「なんでなんだかわかんないんだけど
泣いちゃったの」
家に帰ってから近所のおばさんと折り紙で遊んだ
折り鶴を教えてくれて
難しかったけど 何回も折って
やっと出来るようになった
近所のおばさんが丁寧に何度も教えてくれたから
夜 グローランプをつけた部屋でお布団に入った
おばさんに教えてもらった折り鶴を枕元において
お気に入りの色で作った折り鶴は
グローランプのひかりに照らされて
あわいピンク色に見えた
折り鶴が見守ってくれているようで
その夜は 深い眠りにつくことができた。
