ハゲ予備軍はメルクの「歩く財布」か

最近、電車の中で、飲む発毛剤「プロペシア」の広告をよく見かけます。「いいニュース。うす毛や抜け毛は病院で治療できる時代です」という宣伝文句で、イスに腰掛けた男性が無数に並んで、医師の治療を待っているというデザインの広告です。
でも、なんかひっかかります。「治療」というけど、AGA（男性型脱毛）は病気ではない。あくまでも男性特有の自然現象です。AGAの「治療」は、美容整形と同じ扱い。美容外科を「治療」といわないように、男性型脱毛に関しても、本来なら「治療」というべきでないんですが。「プロぺシア」はあくまでも「生活改善薬」。「改善」（なんかトヨタみたいですが）でもまだひっかかりますが、強いて言うならこの程度が妥当でしょう。
そういうわけでまるでこの「治療」をすすめる広告を見ると、「ハゲはすぐウチの薬飲めよ」。
-------とでも脅されているような気がします。電車のそこらじゅうで広告打ってますし、目障りったらないですよ。そのうち、テレビ宣伝もするんじゃないでしょうか。
まさしく日本からハゲを殲滅せんばかりの「プロペシア」のこの勢い。さすが万有製薬の主力製品です。万有製薬は、何がなんでも金を稼がないとならんようです。
その大きな理由が、万有製薬の親会社のメルク社が危機に陥ってるからなんですね。
メルク社は、スーパー・アスピリンとでもいうべき関節炎治療薬「バイオックス」という薬を、長らく主力製品にして稼ぎまくっていたんですが、この薬、実は心臓発作の副作用があったんです。
ところが、メルクは長らくこの事実を認めなかったため（そのわりに発売の自粛などはしているんですが）、なんと１０万人もの被害者を産みだしてしまいました。これは歴史に残る大薬害です。
被害者たちは、長らくメルクと戦いつづけ、やっと裁判で勝利する例も増えています。昨年の８月にはテキサス州の地裁において、メルクに対し、遺族への２８０億の賠償命令がくだされました。次いで、このたび４月５日には、ニュージャージーの地裁が、原告二人のうちひとりに４５０万の賠償金を支払うようにメルクに命令。こうなるとメルク困った。「バイオックス」による被害者は１０万人以上、予想される同種訴訟数は４２００件以上とも言われています。
危険だ危険だとさんざん識者や被害者によって騒がれていたのに、２００４年の９月まで知らぬ顔をして売りまくっていたツケが回ってきたのです。
昨年の決算では、「バイオックス」（日本未発売）の発売を自粛したため１５％も減益。今後は賠償のため、数兆円がぶっとぶことは確実です。
ということで、メルクは、米国に次ぐといわれる日本市場を頼みの綱にしているのです。そして、メルク１００％子会社の万有製薬の主力製品はなんといってもプロペシア。万有製薬の平手社長は、「米国に次に大切な戦略的拠点が日本という考え方で行く」と気合い充分。様々なメディアを総動員したおおがかりなキャンペーン、大規模な電車内広告と着実にプロペシアを浸透させにきています。
ところで、プロペシア。この薬自体にも、様々な副作用があります。性欲減退なは、臨床試験で述べられている以上に多発しているようです。前立腺癌の発症を抑制するものの、一旦発症した前立腺癌は悪性化するなどとの報告もあります。
しかも、万人に効くなんてことはありません。基本的に、抜け毛の進行がかなり抑えられるだけで、髪が太くなってもとの毛量に戻るなんてことはありません。
一番の問題は、ホルモンバランスを意図的に操作する薬を、長らく使用してもなんの問題もないのか気になる点です。５年、１０年といった臨床データがないのです。なのにかかわらず、死ぬまで進行する男性型脱毛のために売り出しているから始末が悪い。せめて３０年くらい臨床データが欲しいものですが、売りっけたっぷりの製薬会社がそんなことをするわけもなく。アメリカでは、２〜３年の実験で世に出てしまいました。
結局、本当の副作用は市場でこそ明らかになる。「バイオックス」も同様でしたが、市場に出回って取り返しのつかない自体になるまで、その薬害は表に出てこないのです。
こうして、日本の髪に悩める人々は、メルクの起こした大薬害事件の、金銭的損害の穴埋めのために総動員されるわけですが、気をつけたいのは、自らが薬害の対象にならないようにすることでしょう。（仮にどうしようもないほど髪に悩んでいて）プロペシアを使用する時は、信頼する医者のもとで、定期的に検診を行いながら、体調に気をつけて服用してください。効きにくかったら、すぐにやめることも念頭に。
後になって予期せぬ病が発生してしまっても、きっと相手は非を認めないでしょうから------。
