いいたいこと

「今の若者はまったく」などと、人は年をとると、今みつけたみたいにいうけれど、それはエジプトのピラミッドか何かに何千年も前からもうすでに書かれてあるという。
何千年も前からもう「最近の若者はまったく」的な苦言はされていたわけで、おそらくはその後も発言され続けていただろうから、理屈でいうと若者
の程度は年々悪化しているということになり、ピラミッドのとき以来、何千年もたっているわけだから、今はとんでもないことになっているということになるけれども、そんなにたっているにもかかわらず、年数のわりに、そんなに悪化しているとは、どうしても思えない。
いえいえ。大昔の若者にくらべたら最近の若者の人としてのモラルはあきらかに低下していますよ、という人もいるのかもしれないけれど、家の奴隷に公然とムチ打つ者が、今の若者にいるとは思えないから、やっぱりそうは思えない。
僕は、この「最近の若者はまったく」的な言葉というのは、現実に起きていることに対しての言葉ではなくて、人が機会さえあればいいたい言葉のひとつで、人が年をとったら絶対にゆおうと心のどこかで思っている言葉なのではないかと思っている。
たとえば。身近なところでいうと、似たのに「暑いねぇ」がある。
６月あたりになると、そろそろ夏の気配がしてくる。してくるけれども、まだ気持ちをこめて「暑いねぇ」というほど暑くもない。このあたりから、しんの底から「暑いねぇ」といいたいという、はっきりした欲求ではないけれど、そういう思いが、人のどこかにあらわれはじめる。そして、７月の真ん中あたりに、その年はじめての「暑いねぇ」が心からゆえる暑い日がきて、人は思いっきり顔をしかめて「暑いねぇ」といい、夏を確認する。
「寒いねえ」も、そう。だいたい流れは同じ。
何年かぶりに会った人にいいたい「太ったねぇ」もしくは「痩せたねぇ」「ハゲたねぇ」というのもある。他にいうことがないから、という意見があるけれど、そんな消極的な心持ちで、人はそれらの言葉を口にしているのではない。あきらかに、心のどこかで、心の底から「太ったねぇ」「痩せたねぇ」「ハゲたねぇ」と、いいたいのである。何故なのかはわからないけれど、いいたいのである。
同じ状況で、３０も半ばを過ぎたあたりからいいたくなるのが「老けたねぇ」である。「ハゲたねぇ」に少し似た部分はあるけれど、ハゲは若くてもハゲるから、少し違う。
僕なんかはまさに、今「老けたねぇ」をいいたい世代なので、なかなかその機会はめぐってこないけれど、だからこそ値打ちがあるのだけれど、かつての同級生にひさしぶりに会って「老けたねぇ」といいたくて仕方がない。
それと同じで、ひさしぶりに運動をすれば「筋肉痛が２日後にきてねぇ」といいたいし、近所に人殺しがあらわれれば「そんなことをする人には全然見えなかった」といいたいし、ヴェテランになれば「今年の新人はまったく」といいたいし、卒業生になれば「今の現役は」といいたいし、「老けたねぇ」世代がもう少し老けたら「最近の若者はまったく」といいたいのである。
「僕は若者にそんなことはけしてゆわない」と、何だかとても若い者の味方な年配者がたまにいるけれど、それはまあ好きずきなので無理にとはゆわないけれど、味方をした若い者らだって、いずれは「最近の若者はまったく」と絶対にいい出すのだから、思い切ってゆったほうが、顔をしかめていう「暑いねぇ」と同じで、きっと楽しいと、僕は思う。

年齢を重ねることで
若い時に感じることの出来なかったオバサン感覚が
30代になってからひしひしと実感…あ～これか～…と(笑)
スーパーに行けば、何の躊躇も無く
濡れたタオルで指をしめらせ
くっついてるビニール袋を開ける。
だって、指先がサラサラしちゃってるんですもの～
でも、人前で舐める勇気は辛うじて未だ無い(笑)
それから、混雑する女子トイレに見切りをつけて
男子トイレに行ってしまう勇気も未だ無い…
そんなこんなも躊躇無く出来てしまう日がいづれ来るのかと思うと
何だか情けないけれど
そんなことも、きっと情けない所か
笑ってやってのけてしまうに違いない…
笑ってできるなら、きっと楽しいんだろうな～
ホント、毎日「暑いねぇ」

数年前、欧州からの帰路、当然ビジネスやファーストクラスになど乗れないわたしは、エコノミークラスのあのプライベートと呼べる空間が目の前３０センチ位だけ、とゆう狭い席に着きました。
すると、どやどやと６０代半ばから後半にかけてくらいの老人団体が機内に入ってきました。経験上、嫌な予感がする･･･と思っていたら、案の定その団体はわたしの周囲の席へ着席。そして、あのうるさい飛行機のエンジン音をかき消す勢いで、３つ向こうの畑にいる近所の人に話しかけるような大声で、前後の席で会話を始めたわけです。
フライトアテンダントから注意してもらえばよかったんですけど、
隣に座ったじいさんといい、あまりにも傍若無人な振る舞いに我慢しきれず、ついに直接うるさい旨苦情を言いました。すると、隣のじいさんが配偶者らしい隣のばあさんに「うるさいってよ！」と言うと、ばあさんは「ああ？今の若い人は常識がないからね！」とまた大声でわけのわからないセリフ･･･。
今回のブログを読んでこの一件を思い出しました。どんなシチュエイションでも、どんな立場でも全てがこの一言で片付く、年配者にとっては大変都合のいい魔法の言葉。
わたしもいずれこの魔法の言葉を駆使する時がやってくるんだ･･･と思った時、いやもう使ってる自分に気づきました。
肯定否定含めて「最近の若い子ってさぁ･･･」とかゆってます。
なんかもう、人間のＤＮＡにこの台詞を口にする事が刻まれているのでは、とふと思ってしまいました。
