長いタバコの先生

ずいぶん昔、新幹線の駅のホームで不思議な集団を見たことがある。喫煙所でタバコを吸いながら新幹線が来るまで時間をつぶしていると、年配の小柄な男を取り囲むようにして屈強男らが脇をかためたままあらわれた。全員、黒っぽい背広を着込んだその屈強男らはほとんど無駄な口をきかず、さりげなくあたりに視線をくばっている。囲まれている年配の男は、屈強男らの存在など気にしていないそぶりで長いタバコに火をつけながら、隣にいる華奢な若い側近風メガネ男に何やらボソボソと話しかけていた。小柄な年配者の左腕手首にはキラキラする絶対高い腕時計。
ひとつひとつ具体的に書き出すと「極道」の人らかと思うところではあるのだけれど「極道」の人らにしては、雰囲気に「派手」さがない。「極道」の人らというのは、どれだけ地味な服装をしていようと、何かしら南米あたりにいそうな爬虫類的「派手」さがある。
そこへ、別の年配男があらわれ、長いタバコの年配に「せんせい」と呼びかけながら話しかけた。
政治家の「せんせい」だとわかったのは少し時間が経ってからである。
政治家に詳しくないので、名前はわからなかったけれども、たぶんどこかの偉い政治家の「せんせい」であったのだろうと推測する。何がどう偉いのかはともかく「かなり偉いよ俺はオーラ」はもうまばゆいばかりに、あたり一面に放射されていたもの。
政治家が「賄賂」だ「汚職」だ「何だ」「かんだ」とニュースになるたびに、あの小柄な年配者を思い出す。僕らのような低所得者にはない肌艶の良さと、高そうなコロンの匂い。頭髪に塗りたくられたポマードと、長いタバコ。「賄賂」の１億や２億、「汚職」のひとつやふたつ、「何だ」「かんだ」のみっつやよっつ、やってなかろうはずがないと、思わせるその佇まい。「正しい人」とは到底思えないけれども、味方につければ頼もしいとすら思えるであろう邪悪な濁り目のしたたかそうなその風情。
あの長いタバコの「せんせい」と比べて、この写真の人はまるで「学生のよう」に見える。メールで騙された人などそのまま「学生」と言われても信じてしまいそうな顔に見える。長いタバコどころか「執務室禁煙」と書いた紙を張り出しそうな人らに見える。詳しくは知らないけれども。
子供が見ても「悪そう」と思えた昔の政治家顔と、子供の目にも「そこらのサラリーマンよりクリーン」に見える今の政治家顔のどちらがいいのかはわからないけれど、あの僕が見た小柄な長いタバコの邪悪な濁り目の「せんせい」のもとへ、自称フリーライターごときが「うそメール」を売り込みに行くのは、相当の度胸がいるであろう事だけは確かである。

え？そんなんゆっちゃっていいの？とちょっとハラハラしちゃうような事までサラリと切り込んでゆくのに、嫌味がない。
山下さんのそんなサックリ加減がすごく好き。

ボディガードが何人も付くということは、その政治家は閣僚、もしくは閣僚経験のある要人だったのかしら。あの人かなあと、直ぐに思い浮かんだ大物政治家の名前。
しかし、具体的名前を挙げるのはどうかなと思ったので、（だって推測だけで
証拠も無いのにそうだったのではと、勝手に決め付けるのは詭弁だからです。）
心の中に仕舞い込んでパス。
オーラには、仕事（本業）以外の場所でも発される場合と、仕事の場になって
初めて発される場合があるような気がします。
例えば、去年、知り合いの仕事場に、二人組の男性が来ていました。
知り合いに紹介されてやっと年配の方は付き人で、黒縁に眼鏡、ノーネクタイの白いワイシャツにプレザーというカジュアルファッションの男性は、関西の有名な落語家だと判りました。
その時、紹介されても落語家のオーラみたいのが感じられなくて、戸惑って
しまったのを覚えています。
後日、こっそりこの方の落語を聞きに行って見ました。そしたら、和服をいなせに
着こなしたその人は、喋らなくても落語家のオーラを発し捲りで吃驚しました。
色々な人達が色々な形態で、その人に適したオーラをＴＰＯに応じて
発しているのかもしれませんね。

今年…と言っても本文は2006年ですが、コメントする今は2008年。今年は、これまでの様々な出会いが、より身近になった年でした。その中に、一生縁がないと思われていた区議会議員の方がいて、私より一つ年下ですが、お子様が4人もいらっしゃる。選挙に関係なく、日頃、最寄り駅で朝演説されていて、私がご本人のブログにコメントしたのが始まりでしたが、初当選した翌日に｢kikiさんですよね｣って声をかけて頂いて、それは大勢いる通勤者の中からなぜに???とも思いましたが、きっと私がよく見ていたからだと思います(笑)…ま～そんなこんなで、時々朝ご挨拶したり、コメントしたりしています。その方が、どこの党かというのは関係なくて、個人的にその方のブログは、出版関係でいらしたこともあってか、とても肩の力をぬいたわかりやすいもので、内部の疑問や子供や親のことについて、とても向き合っていらっしゃる。半分はプライベートだったりしてそのユルさがいいのですが。で、今年は是非にと思って、きちんとお声かけして、FICTION『しんせかい』公演をご紹介したところ、お芝居好きな方とお二人でいらして下さいました。有権者のご機嫌取りとかではなくて、本当に気持ちよく興味を持っていただいて。そしてとても満足していただき、本当に私も鼻高々でした（*^_^*）
議員になられて今年で2年目でしょうか…、議会運営で話し合いが難しく、発展の会話がままならない壁にぶち当たってらして、流されてはいけないと闘いながら、日々お疲れのようです。
もしかしたら、最初はみんなそういう意志なんでしょうが、いつの間にか自分の所属するところのしがらみに抵抗することに疲れて、流されて、結局その方がラクで、簡単だと悪い意味で悟ってあきらめてしまうのかもしれない。
私の知っている議員さんには、変わらず自分の子供に胸をはれるようなお仕事をしてもらいたいと思っているし、ご自身も、そこを無くしては議員になった意味が無いと、先日、気持ちを新たにされていた。
そういう人もいるのだと思うと、自分にも伝染する。がんばろって。
