「大人」は苦くて複雑な味のする珍味で酒を飲むものだと思っていた。「大人」は寿司屋のカウンターで１人、握りをつまむものだと思っていた。「大人」はマンガやアニメなどおもしろがれないものだと思っていたし、小料理屋で演歌を聞いてしみじみするものなのだと思っていた。
数十年前と比べて世の中たくさんのことが劇的に変化したけれど、「大人像」ほど劇的な変化を見せたものはない。いまだ数十年前の「大人像」を持ち続けながら、もう肉だけは完全体な「大人」になっている僕など、毎日がとまどいの日々なのである。
寿司屋へ１人でどころか回っていない寿司屋へ自前で入ったこともなく、珍味も食えず、酒も飲めないうえに、何が食いたいと聞かれれば「オムライス」と言う僕など、年だけは経ているけれどもそれはもう「大人」ではないのである。
仮面ライダーのベルト。あれが百貨店のおもちゃ売り場に並べられた日を昨日の事のようにおぼえている。おもちゃとは思えないような値段で、一段高いところに飾られていた、実用からは、ほどとおいそのベルト。うちの母などは「あんなもんでズボンは止まらん」と吐きすてた、そのベルト。そこそこ程度の貧乏人の子なら「ほしい」と口に出してみるくらいのことは万が一を夢見て、したのだろうけれども、僕らのように赤貧の子は何がどう起ころうと到底手に入るものではないと見た瞬間に判断出来るので、見なかったことにしたものである。
それが今、大人サイズで「大人」に売り出されているという。この戦略こそがまさに「大人」の立てた戦略であり、買おうかどうしようかと悩んでいる時点でもうこの手練た「大人」の戦略にまんまとはめられているのだけれども。「ターゲット、子供じみた４０代」とか３０代の「大人」に言われて。それはともかく。
価格は３万円。買える。いくつかの事を少し我慢すれば買える。買って腰にまける。まいてさすがに外へは出て行けないけれど、夜な夜な１人でうっとり出来ることだけは確かである。１度か２度、パチンコを我慢すればいいだけのお値打ち価格で。
さあ。「大人」を捨てて、まくか。まきながらも子供に小言をたれるそういう薄らみっともないタイプの「大人」でいくか。それとも、ライダーのベルトとはしょせん昔から縁がなかったのだと、苦みばしった「大人」の笑みをうかべて、まくのを断念するのか。
ややこしいものを売り出したものである。

20歳代後半以降になると、そこそこお金に余裕がでてくるし
時間にも余裕が出来てくる。
当時、学生時代の友人とこんなことを話した
「今なら好きな漫画を一気に全巻買えるし
駄菓子屋さんで当たりつきのお菓子、箱ごと買えるよね～
やってみたいけど、でも、なんだかそれは虚しいかも…」
出来ることではあるけれど、それはタブーなような気がした。
やっぱり、本来の子供時代の憧れや楽しみ方は特別だったように思う。
男性と女性はちがうのだろうか???
復刻版とは、大概男性対象のものが多い気がするけれど…
でも、会社や家庭でも自分を解放出来ないサラリーマンにとっては
ベルトを巻くことが小さな楽しみだったりするのかもしれない…
そんなロマンより、私は美味しいディナーを楽しみたいけれど…（笑）
