開けてはならぬもの
【ロンドン/英国 12日 AFP】ロンドンで人体に関する展示会が開かれている。この展示会では、22体の全身標本や臓器、体の部分的な標本260点以上が展示されており、骸骨、筋肉、呼吸器系、循環器系について間近で観察することができる。写真は展示会で展示されている人体標本。(c)AFP/JOHN D MCHUGH
ずいぶん昔、子供の頃。もらった「お守り」の中にいったい何が入っているのかが気になり、しばらく眺めに眺めたすえ「地獄に堕ちてもいい」との覚悟を決め、中身を取り出しバラバラにした事がある。
あらためて書くほどの事もないけれど、中には紙につつまれた薄い木のお札が入っており、そこには何やら字が書かれていたと思うけど、何が書かれていたのかはおぼえてない。
とにかく。開け放たれた「お守り」は、ほじくり返されて、ほつれた糸が飛び出したただのちゃちな布の袋と、破られた紙きれと、薄い木片と化し。それらの姿には何のありがたみもなく、たぶんこれらには残念ながらもう、守られる事はないと思われた。
その後もたびたびそのような罰当たりを繰り返してきた経験から書くと、だいたいそこら中にある「してはならない」「見てはならない」「開けてはならない」的なものというのは、「して」も「見て」も「開けて」も、どうという事など、とくにない。
死体だってそうである。あんなものはただの「肉」である。「肉」に何の意味もない。平和の国に住んで死体など見る事がほとんどないから、死体を見ると「あ」と思うけれど、日常茶飯事に死体が転がってるところへゆけば、別に「あ」とも思わないし「わ」とも思わずまたいで通る。ま、またぐ事はないけれども。
と、気持ちに「勢い」のあるうちは思える。
しかし「勢い」はいずれなくなる。イワシの頭にでもすがりたくなる日は来る。いくら腐り果てて、若者に「くさいくさい」とゆわれようとも、そのイワシの頭でなければならぬのだというところまで追いつめられる日はくる。かならずくる。確固とした悪魔のような現代人でい続けたいと思うけれども、きっとくる。いやだなぁと思うけれども、くる。
もちろん。いつまでも「勢い」のある人というのはいる。が、そんな人はそんなには、いない。「能力主義でお願いしますよ」と強気で言う若者らの中に、ほんとうに「能力」だけでどうにかなってゆく奴などほとんどいないのと同じくらい、いない。いつまでも「勢い」を持ち続けるためにはそれなりの哲学がいる。しかし、そんなもの普通、ない。ていうか僕には、ない。人の読むものを読んで、人の見るものを見てきただけのことである。あからさまな「好奇心」だけで「して」「開けて」「見て」きただけのことなのである。
木にも花にも神様はいて、便所や台所にも神様はいて。仏さまと神さま一緒くたじゃないのと言われてもお地蔵さんに手をあわせて初詣して厄払いして神棚に手をあわせて。だから死体をそんな風に見物なんかしてたらバチが当たりますよ。
と、いうメンタリティに助けられる日は、たぶんくる。悔しいけれど。

写真の標本にされた本人は、まさかこんなポーズで世界中を駆け巡っているとは思ってないだろう。
死体なのに多忙だ。
以前、京都の美術館に来ていたような気がする。
興味はそそられたが、怖くて行けなかった。
確か血管に水銀を注入して作るじゃなかったかな。
「自分の体をぜひ後世のために使って」って死んでいったとしたら、
まさか医学とは全く関係のない好奇の目にさらされているとしたら、
やはりバチは当たるのかもしれない。
けれど、やはり「彼」は多忙なので、
いちいちバチをバチバチ当ててられないかもしれない。
恨みつらみを並べる人は、きまって暇人だからだ。

この展示会での人体標本は、生前はどちらの国籍、人種の人達なのでしょう。
何年か前（３，４年前）に、東京国際フォーラムでもこのような催し物がありました。
幾つかのメディア関係の雑誌では、実際に国際フォーラムに足を運んだ人達の間から沸き起こった疑問や苦情を取り上げていました。
読んだ記憶を思い出してみると、人体標本は、生前本人が死後献体するという本人掌握のものである、並べられていた十数体？は全員「中国人」、標本の中には医学的？な展示の仕方ではなく、弓を引く時のポーズみたいに体を変形させられて展示のものもある、本物の臓器を手で触れるコーナーもある、お土産用に「死体のポストカード」が売られている、だったかしら。
疑問や苦情は、それらの事柄に対するものでした。
どう言ったらいいのかしら。事情はどうあれ、人体標本にも死後の人間としての尊厳があるのでは・・と、個人的には思います。
でも今回の場合は、東京国際フォーラムとは展示の仕方も異なっているようだし、少しだけほっとしました。

駅の構内に、宣伝ポスターが突如張り出されていたら、きっとギョッとする(>_<)
生々しくて、怖い…。 小心者の私は、絶対夢に見る…
血管のみで表現された人体…とまでくると、それはひとつの神秘の芸術として
鑑賞出きるかもしれないが…
エジプト展などのミイラも同じかもしれないが、それはいいのか???
返ってそちらの方が、掘り起こしちゃって開けちゃってゴメンナサ～イ…では
なかろうか…
ま～理由、テーマは色々あるだろうが、死者への冥福には手を合わずには
いられない。
以前、幼稚園の子供がいた友人は、子供を連れてそのような展示会に
あえて足を運んだと言っていたっけ…
体の勉強になるし、言葉よりも実物を見て、命の大切さを感じ取って欲しいから…と言っていた。
最初、え～小さい子に見せるの??? と思わず言ってしまったが
そういう情操教育方法もあるのかとびっくりした。
でも、やっぱり私は、展示された人と目が合ったら…と思うだけで…(-_-;)
親が子供に与える環境って、同じようでいて、結構違うんだな~~
その子は、どんな大人になっていくのかな～～
