ひよこ集め

ある光景を、ある角度で見るととても哀しい光景に見える。ここの写真にはときおりそういうのがあるけれど、その光景にいる人の気持ちはまた別だったりする。
もちろん別じゃなかったりすることもあるけれど。
昔、親の帰りが遅いため、１人でぼくは公園で遊んでいた。少し肌寒い季節になりかけていたにもかかわらずまだ半袖のままだったぼくはサブイボ(鳥肌ともいう)をたてブルブルとふるえつつ、それでも「夜、公園に１人でいる」という快感にひたりながら遊んでいた。昼間ここで遊んでいる他の子供らは今頃家で飯の時間か、と思うとその喜びはいっそう大きくなり、とても「得」をしている気がした。普段なかなか出来ないことが出来るというのは、子供にとってすこぶる楽しいことのひとつなのである。それに至った状況がどうであろうとも。もちろんいろんな子供がいるから「子供はみんな」と書く気はないけれど。すると突然、見知らぬ中年女が「ぼく、どないしたん!!」と近寄ってきた。適当にあしらう術などもちろん持たぬ当時のぼくは「こうこうこうで、こうなのだ」と少し怯えながらもそのときの状況を説明すると「かわいそうに!!」とその中年女は目をうるませながらそう言った。それ以来「夜１人で公園で遊ぶのはかわいそうなのか」と思うくせがついてしまい、夜の公園で遊べなくなった。
もうひとつ。夜遅く父と母が大げんかをし、家にいるのが怖いので銭湯へ出かけた(当時は銭湯もけっこう遅くまで営業していた)。普段ならさっさとカラスの行水をすませて家に帰るところなのだけれど、家では親が暴れている。とてもこわい。だからなるたけ時間を長引かそうと、ゆっくり体を洗い、ゆっくり泡をながしていた。すると、いつもは特別注意することなくすませていたその行為が何だかとても別なものに思えてきて、少しおもしろくなってきた。きれいなものだと思っていた銭湯の湯にもけっこう不気味に白いものが浮かんでたりするのも見つけた。とにかくぼくはもう１度、ゆっくり体を洗い、ゆっくり泡をながし、湯を観察してみた。やっぱりおもしろい。もう１度。もう１度。するとまたしても突然、その様子を斜め後ろから見ていたらしい見知らぬ中年男が「ぼく!!大丈夫か!」とぼくの肩をゆさぶった。「１人か」と聞くから「うん」とこたえた。「こんな遅い時間にか」と聞くから「うん」とこたえた。「お父さんかお母さんは」とまだ聞くから「家でけんかしてる」とこたえたら「かわいそうに」と言われた。それ以来、夜遅くに子供が１人、銭湯でゆっくり体を洗うのは「かわいそうなのか」と思うくせがついてしまい、もとのカラスの行水へもどり銭湯へ行くのもなるべく明るいうちにすませるようになった。
ぜんそくの発作が出たときも(こういうことは、書き出すと次から次に思い出す)、探してみると比較的楽になる体勢を見つけられることを知ったぼくは、以来発作が出るたびにその体勢を見つけるのが楽しみになりモゾモゾしていたら、突然見知った中年男(父親である)に「そんなに苦しいんか!!」ときつめに背中をさすられ、より苦しくなったことがある。以来発作が出たとき、家族らが起きている間は苦しくともなるべく体を動かさずじっと「ヒューヒュー」がおさまるのを待つようになった。
鳥の病気がこの子にうつらないことを願うけれど、生活が厳しいから「遊び」じゃなくて食料にするための「労働」なのかもしれないけれど、ていうかおそらくそうなのだろうけれども、理由はどうあれ「宝の山」(それが「毒の宝の山」であろうとも)での「ひよこ集め」は豊かな国の大人の目には「かわいそう」に思えるけれど、きっと小さく楽しいに違いない。

可愛いヒヨコを集めるのは、子供ならきっとちょっと楽しいでしょうね。
日本にも広がる格差、世界を見渡すともっとすごい格差。
こういう子供たちが無邪気にヒヨコを集め、
生活の糧にしている現実には、胸が痛みます。
話題は変わりますが、山下さんちの猫ちゃん。
山下さんには懐かないで、家の方には懐いてるんでしょうか？
そうすると、拾ってじきの成長期に山下さんが「地球･･･」の公演で、
長期不在だった事も要因かもしれませんねえ・・・。
家の誰にも懐かない！となると、「ふん、俺は生まれた時から
世間の冷たい風に当たってきたのさ、人間なんか信じられるかい」
てな風に、世捨て猫の性格になってしまってるんでしょうかね。
うちの野良出身の兄弟猫は１匹は人懐こく、もう１匹は恐ろしく人見知りです。
すぐに「シャーシャー」言われ、慣れるのに１ヶ月以上かかりました。
ひたすらその猫をかまってやり、なでたり抱っこしたり甘やかしました。
１０ヶ月になった今でもすぐビクビクするし、
来客があればチャイムの音を聞いただけで、ダッシュして逃げます。
わたし以外にはあまり懐いていません。
穴が開くほど噛まれても、血が出るほどひっかかれても、
しばらく粘り強くスキンシップを図ってみたらいかがでしょう。
それでもダメなようなら、「うちの猫は愛嬌のないところが可愛い」
と無理やり思うようにしましょう。ちょっと寂しいですけど・・・。

山下さんが少年時代、心配して声かけしてくれた大人達がいたんですね。
なんてしあわせな山下少年！
この写真の少年の場合は、どうだったのかしら。
去年、ＣＮＮニュースを見ていたら、国連本部で行われた世界に向けてパキスタン地震被災者の援助活動に関し、協力を要請するみたいなニュースを報じてました。家屋の無い何百万人もの被災者がいて援助物資は届かないし、資金不足、深刻な食糧危機とかそんな感じのニュースだったかしら。
特に震源元？のカシミール？地方は、インドとパキスタンで権力闘争で難しい状態にあるところだし、仕方ないのかなあと思いながらニュースを見ていました。
この子の家族は、無事だったのかしら？
輸送網の遮断で、援助物資が届いていないところもあるみたいだから、この子もおなかが空いているのかなあ。

「絵」になるとは、貧しく悲しく同情する余地が必要か。
もし金持ちの子供のいたずらだったら、ニュースにはならなかっただろう。
豊かな国の大人から見れば「絵」になるが、貧しい国の隣の子だったら「絵」にはならず、「貧乏臭いからやめなさい」ということになるかもしれない。

ニュースの1枚の写真について
山下さんのちょっとそこから発展させた独特の視点のブログ。
このニュースもこんな風に切り返すのか～と毎回楽しみです。
あ…その割には、今回コメント遅くてごめんなさい(汗)
でも、ホント…少年山下くんは、色々考えていたんですね～。
今から思うに…結構子供って色々、感じて、考えて、気を遣っているんですよね。
私もそうだった…でも、その純粋な謙虚さはどこへやら…
あ～これがオバチャンになるってことぉぉ???(笑)
ひよこを集める少年も、生きるために今できる当然の仕事として頑張っている。
子供がそういう仕事をする事を許している状況が悲しい。
病気にならないでと祈るしかないけれど、少年は何を思って過ごしているのか…
心が幸せなら、生まれた国や環境がどうあれ、良しとするのか…
この広い世界、皆に助けられながら水中生活記録を挑戦する人もいれば
危険なひよこを命がけで（と思っているかは不明だが）集める少年がいる。
人生色々なのだ…
今の私には何が出来るだろう。
なんとなく過ごしていることが申し訳なく思えてくる…。
