シチズン時計 Bluetooth（R）搭載の腕時計を発表 - 東京
【東京 12日 AFP】シチズン時計は12日、世界初のBluetooth（R）搭載の腕時計「i:VIRT（アイ:ヴァート）」を発表した。この腕時計は、携帯電話と連動させると、電話に着信があるたびに振動し、発光ダイオードを点滅、発信者の名前と電話番号を有機発光ダイオード（OLED）画面に表示する。また、腕時計上のボタンで携帯電話を操作して、通話を保留にしたり、切ったりすることもできる。「i:VERT」は7月7日に発売予定で、推定価格は2万5000円。写真は12日、「i:VERT」を紹介するシチズン時計の社員。(c)AFP/YOSHIKAZU TSUNO
むかし。まだカメラなんか高くて、ま、今でもちゃんとしたカメラは高いけど、そういうんじゃなくて、カメラといえば高いカメラしかなかったころ。もちろんそんなものを持っているはずのない僕は、きれいな景色、日向でくつろぐ小動物などを目にするたびに「ああ、カメラさえここにあれば絶
対、写真に撮るのにな」と、ぼんやり夢想していた。はたからは、何もせず、ただぼんやりと景色および小動物等を見ているだけの阿呆にしか見えていなかったとしても、その内面世界では、カメラさえ持っていたらきっとそうするであろう自分、撮った写真をきれいにアルバムに貼付けるであろう自分、を思い描いて甘い妄想にふけっていた。
それから数年後。例のあの「使い捨てカメラ」があらわれた。「そりゃあ、これは流行るでしょ。あれこそみんなが待ち望んでいたものだもの」という僕の思惑どおり、瞬く間に巷を席巻し、あちこちで売られるようになり、どこへ行っても「カシャカシャ」とチーズしピースする人らがあらわれた。にもかかわらず、僕は１度もあの「使い捨て」を手にする事はなかった。以前あれほど「あれば撮る」と夢想していたのにもかかわらず。「撮って張る」と妄想していたのにもかかわらず。
そのときに気づくべきだったのである。
そして真打ちがあらわれた。「カメラ付き携帯」である。自慢ではないけれど、これまで３度しか機種変更をしていない僕なので、なかなか「カメラ付き」を手にする事はなかった。けれどもさすがに３度目の機種変更時、選んだ訳ではないものの、選んだ携帯にカメラがついていた。あの、かつて高価であったカメラが、選んだ電話に付いていた。そもそも「あ、カメラついてる」とかいうそんな軽いノリのモノではなかったはずのカメラが、電話に。とうとう僕も、絶えずカメラを携帯する男になった。
なのに撮らない。撮ろうとしないのである。
そこでようやく僕は理解したのでした。僕は自分が思っている以上に横着な男であり、素敵な風景や、かわいい小動物を目にしたところで、いちいちシャッターを押すなどという細やかな動きなど、ただただ「めんどうくさい」だけの男だったということを。
思えば、僕の半生は「めんどうくさい」に支配されていました。いや、今でも、います。僕の育てる植物はかならず枯れます。思い出した頃に霧吹きで水をやればいいよと頂いた世話いらずのサボテンですら枯らせます。日記形式でないなら、とこのブログもはじめました。日記など生まれてこのかた挑戦したことすらありませんし、もちろんこれから挑戦する気もありません。お芝居もひと月稽古せねばならぬのなら、その半分以下でやれるやり方を考えるのにひと月使います。食事は日に１度で大丈夫ですし、５日に１度剃ればいいぐらいのスピードでしかヒゲも生えません。もう体ごとそういう風なのです。
文字通り「あれば撮る」程度の横着者なら、これほど便利な世の中はない。事実、便利な機械があらわれる事により、それまで埋もれていたらしい「コマメさ」をあらわにした者らが僕のまわりにもたくさんいる。しかし、ないから「あれば撮る」とぬかしていただけの、僕のようなほんとうの横着者にとって、この便利さは、化けの皮をはがされる思いに日々さらされるだけである。
ないからいえたのである。ないから、いくらでも「コマメな自分」を夢想できたのである。ないから「本来なら、おれは意外と行動する男よ」と、楽しくおのれをあざむき続けられたのである。
Eメールなどというものがあらわれる前、字の下手な僕は「書きたい気持ちは山ほどあるけどそんな汚い字を読ませてなるものか。だって失礼」的な、思いやりと思おうと思えば思える、そんな「非常にわかりにくい思いやり」を持った筆無精な男でいられたのに、それが今や、恩師に年賀の挨拶も送らぬただの無礼者である。
ネットやブログなどというものがあらわれる前「それなりにまとまった文章を公に向けて書くなんていうのは本職の人のする事であって、僕のようなど素人になんかとてもとても無理。ていうか恥ずかしいし」的な、慇懃謙虚な男でいられたのに、今やこんな文を公の場で書き散らす、ただの恥知らずである。
こうして世の中がひとつひとつ便利になってゆく事で、ずいぶん僕はあらわになり、恥じ入る気すら、この頃ぁもうない。
それでも、まだ僕は、僕の奥深さを甘く見ているフシがある。
着信をお知らせしてくれる腕時計。今はまだ開発されたばかりなので、何だかウルトラ警備隊の「こちらダン」みたいな薄ら恥ずかしい形体をしているけれど、おそらく、いずれはもっと小型化し、いろんなものに内蔵されるようになるのだろう。メガネにとか服にとか。耳とか指とかに。
そしてたぶんまた、僕の何かがあらわになる。
